Villlhelllm: How do You even Spell It?

Tiny Tales from Alyce’s Weekly Wonders:

Hi everyone! It’s me, Alyce!

Being home from the hospital is AMAZING! I love snuggling in my cozy crib, especially because I have the best view ever! I can see the beautiful skies and the tall trees dancing outside my window. It’s like my own little piece of paradise right here from my crib!

But you know what’s even more exciting? My daddy’s big plants in the kitchen! They’re so green and leafy, and I love staring at them while he waters them. Maybe one day I’ll help him take care of them too!

Guess what? I just turned two months young this week! Can you believe it? Time flies when you’re having fun, and let me tell you, being a baby is the best adventure ever!

This week has been extra special because the doctors said I can start taking less medicine. Yay! It feels like a whole new world opening up for me, and I can’t wait to explore it!

Oh, and here’s the funniest part of my week: my parents keep coming up with the silliest nicknames for me! They’re always giggling and calling me things like “Big Toe Puck” or “Fatty Bumbum.” It’s so much fun! But hey, why don’t you all join in the fun too? Vote for your favourite nickname in the poll below!

Love and baby hugs,

Alyce 💕

Embracing the Chaos

Hey Vilhelmians,

This week brought a dose of reality that hit harder than expected. I received feedback at work suggesting I’m “struggling.” Initially, my pride kicked in—me, struggling? Impossible! But upon reflection, I had to admit: that there is some truth in that statement. However, it’s not just work; it’s life in general that’s feeling overwhelming.

Just last week, I mentioned how tempting it was to skip these updates for some extra sleep. That desire for rest has been a constant echo, loud and clear. Yet, here we are, because the connection and shared experiences we have are too important to set aside. So today, I’m laying it all out there, as real as it gets.

The Triple Challenge:

  • Work: Imagine an old car that needs constant repairs but is expected to run like a bullet train. Add to that the task of building a completely new car from scratch, with no instructions, a looming deadline, and an undefined budget. That’s my current work scenario.

  • Life in Hamilton: Settling into our new city, managing the chaos of baby life, two playful dogs (minus the karaoke sessions), and a never-ending list of household tasks—it’s like living in a whirlwind of “organized chaos,” fueled further by my obsession with Facebook Marketplace.

  • Self-Care: This has taken a backseat, unfortunately. Between the demands of family, dogs, and metaphorical car-building, who has time for sleep?

The sting of the feedback was a wake-up call. But instead of wallowing, I’m using it as motivation to push forward. Here’s the game plan:

  • Homefront: We’re implementing systems and routines to tackle the chaos head-on, hoping to maybe even get the dogs on board with cleaning up their toys (here’s to wishful thinking).

  • Work: Fostering a supportive team environment is essential. We’re all in this together, navigating the challenges and aiming to make the dream work, even if the “dream car” is a work in progress.

  • US-Time: Prioritizing Alyce, sleep, exercise, and hobbies is now non-negotiable. These aren’t luxuries; they’re necessities for keeping everything else afloat.
