#119 - McHappy Day and My First Happy Meal

Alyce explains why McHappy Day means so much to her family after the Ronald McDonald Room gave them a home away from home at McMaster Children's Hospital. She also scores her very first Happy Meal — and promptly steals a bite of her nanny's cheeseburger.

Alyce's Weekly Wonders: McHappy Day

Tiny Tales from Alyce's Weekly Wonders

Hi there! It’s me, Alyce! I want to tell you a little story about McHappy Day and how it’s so special for my family and me.

When I was at McMaster Children's Hospital, my parents spent a lot of time in a special room called Ronald McDonald's Room. It’s not just any room—it’s a place where families like mine can relax, have a snack, and take a deep breath. It was super important to my mom and dad because, sometimes, hospitals can feel really big and a little bit scary. So having that room was like a tiny piece of home to help us feel better.

Now, here’s where McHappy Day comes in! McHappy Day is a big deal for us because it helps families like mine, who are going through tough times. It raises money for Ronald McDonald House Charities, which helps families stay close to their kids while they’re getting better. My family got to use this special support, and it made everything a bit easier.

This year on May 8th, McHappy Day was even more awesome! I got my very first Happy Meal! I was so excited! It had a cheeseburger, fries, and even a Minecraft toy. I couldn’t believe it—my first Happy Meal ever! Oh, and guess what? It was also the day my nanny, Taylor, was with us. I couldn't resist—I had to steal a bite of her cheeseburger! It was so tasty, and I couldn’t stop laughing. Now, everyone tells the funny story of how I stole her cheeseburger! It’s official—I love hamburgers and fries now. Who knew?!

But guess what else? I love healthy snacks too! I’ve started eating frozen broccoli, and it really helps when I’m teething. I’m such a big girl now, loving my hamburgers and my veggies!

McHappy Day helps make sure that families like mine have what they need—whether it’s a place to stay close to the hospital or even just a quiet moment in Ronald McDonald's Room to recharge. When people buy their food on McHappy Day, it raises money that helps families like mine feel supported and cared for, so we can focus on what really matters—getting better and being together.

So, thank you for helping out on McHappy Day! You made a big difference for my family and so many other families. I can’t wait for next year’s McHappy Day, and who knows, maybe I’ll steal another cheeseburger!

Love,

Alyce 💕
