Villlhelllm: How do You even Spell It?

Tiny Tales from Alyce’s Weekly Wonders

Hello there, everyone! It’s your favorite baby blogger, Alyce! This week has been quite the adventure! My Complex Care paediatrician told my mom that she shared my symptoms and swallow videos with a pan Canadian paediatric group. Guess what? They think my oesophagus sphincter might not be working properly. This led us to a visit with the GI specialist on Friday. And now, I’m being referred to SickKids for more assessments! So exciting, right? Stay tuned for more updates on that!

Life as a baby with two dogs is amazing. I go on a night walk every day with Boujee and Dapper, my two best friends. I love our walks so much and miss them when we don’t go. Boujee and Dapper are the best cuddle buddies anyone could ask for.

Also, guess what else? I can now eat couple spoons of purée, and I absolutely love them! My mom has been spoiling me with all the yummy stuff. She even makes extra and freezes them into small ice cubes for me. It’s so delicious and also helps with my current teething!

Oh, and one more thing! Next week is a big milestone because I will be turning six months old. Can you believe it? Time flies when you’re having fun!

Until next time, love,

Alyce 💕

A Spontaneous Day Trip to Port Dover

It all began with a casual conversation with one of my neighbors during a morning dog walk. When I asked about his plans for the day, he mentioned a drive down to Port Dover. I admitted I’d never been, and he enthusiastically recommended it, raving about their famous fish and chips made with fresh perch and pickerel from the port town. Just an hour’s drive away, he insisted it was well worth the visit.

Intrigued by his description, I rushed home to share the idea with Katerina. With our daughter Alyce’s arrival, we hadn’t traveled much lately, so a change of scenery sounded perfect. Katerina suggested making it a day trip that Saturday, and we quickly agreed.

Saturday morning arrived, and after breakfast, we started preparing for our adventure. As we gathered Alyce’s essentials and loaded the car with the dogs’ gear, our furry companions sensed our excitement and eagerly awaited the journey.

Initially, we considered leaving the dogs behind since they dislike car rides, and don’t do well in warm weather. However, memories of a previous camping trip reminded us of the unforgettable experience we had when we took them along. So, it was settled – the dogs would join us.

The drive from Hamilton to Port Dover was a breeze, surrounded by lush farmlands and greenery. There’s something rejuvenating about a day trip and the open road that recharges one’s batteries.

Upon arrival, we drove straight down the main street, greeted by a beautiful beach that exuded a vacation vibe. Families, sunbathers, and dogs filled the sandy shores, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The town itself boasted charming little shops and a picturesque boardwalk.

While the setting was idyllic, our dog Dapper struggled with separation anxiety, constantly seeking comfort by nuzzling into my lap. It was a reminder of the challenges that come with exploring new places with our furry companions.

On the other hand, our dog Boujee effortlessly made friends with a little girl slightly older than Alyce, showcasing her outgoing and friendly nature – a true testament to her name.

Remembering my neighbor’s recommendation, I ventured along the boardwalk in search of the renowned fish and chips. At one of the local shops, I ordered the Lake Erie special, featuring fried perch and pickerel. Let me tell you, it was worth the drive! The fresh, locally-caught fish was an absolute delight, reminding us of our trip to Crete, Greece, a few years back.

As the afternoon lazily unfolded, I reflected on the challenges of parenting. Taking a child to the beach is no small feat, and kids demand constant attention and care. It’s a testament to the dedication and resilience of parents everywhere.
