If the house could talk: Mid-Year Update!
It’s your favorite talking house here to give you a mid-year update on all the shenanigans happening inside these walls. Let me tell you, my owners have been busy little bees. They’ve been upgrading my tech like crazy – I’ve got sensors to detect when I cry/leak, cameras to spy on my hammer neighbors, and even voice alarms to warn them when they get too close. I’m starting to feel like a robot, but hey, I’m not complaining!
But there’s one thing that’s been bothering me – the deck project. The tall one still hasn’t finished it and keeps blaming the weather. I mean, come on, buddy, you’ve had two months! And don’t even get me started on the used stuff he keeps bringing home. I swear he’s got a shopping addiction.
But it’s not just him – the Kat is just as bad. I overheard them talking about the marketplace and getting deals. What about getting some art for my wall? Priorities, people!
I wish I could say I’m surprised, take a look at the picture below of the tall one doing something in the Garage and ignoring the Deck project! but this is just typical behavior from them. As I always say, “I tell them all the time that they need to focus on my list.” But I guess some things never change.

Jim – A Shining Light
A few weeks ago, our professional coach and friend Jim paid us a visit. I met Jim through Katerina when I was interviewing for a job. He helped me prepare for the interview process and, more importantly, showed me how to believe in myself more.
It had been a few months since we last connected, so when I found out that he and his lovely wife would be visiting, I was overjoyed to reconnect. We had a great time catching up. During our conversation, Jim asked me how work was going. I told him that I was working on a project to improve and streamline the business, and that I was enjoying the challenge.
Then Jim asked me how “Damian” was doing. To be honest, that question caught me off guard. With everything going on this year, I haven’t checked in with myself in a while. It took me a minute to answer, as there are so many versions of “Damian”. There’s professional Damian, who is busy but thrives when things are hectic. Then, there’s family Damian, who is facing significant changes and has a little one on the way with a beautiful and caring woman. But he also misses his sisters and the relationship we used to have. Friend Damian feels a little distant since moving to Hamilton. The parties have slowed down, and we don’t get together as often as he would like.
2023 has been a year of change, and we are halfway through it. So my answer to Jim was, “Thank you so much for the question. Damian’s not perfect, but he’s doing his best to take care of the people he loves.”
Jim’s question was profound, as it reminded me that I need to check in on my friends and family more often. I hope these newsletter posts serve as a little check-in. They don’t replace calls, texts, or in-person visits, but in the meantime, if you are reading this, know that you are loved and very special to us.

Ultimate Childbirth Class: Baby Care
Hey there, Villlhelllm readers!
I had my first child birthing call the other day and let me tell you, it was the shit! As a new dad, I had no idea what to expect and to be honest, I’ve been putting off thinking about the day and enjoying my last vestiges of freedom. But my partner, Kat, has different plans for us and has us booked into the Ultimate Childbirth Class every Saturday until the baby arrives.
Now, I keep telling her that I’m well-versed in raising kids, since I used to change my niece Kim. Well, that was years ago and times sure have changed. Things like baby powder are out and respect for the microbiome is in. And to top it off, these classes are now virtual, which I’m still on the fence about, but the world has changed, so we need to roll with it. Next week, I will not be having breakfast during class. I do not like poop and eggs!
During the first session, we learned all about baby’s first bath, what her first poop will look like, and how many times she’ll need to pee. The session was two hours long, so when it came to the part about baby’s temperature and layering her clothing, I kinda phased out. But fear not, my goal is to have some kind of tech that will announce over our home speakers when baby’s hot— “Attention, parents! It’s me, (INSERT NAME), and I’m .5 degrees too hot!”
As a first-time parent-to-be, I’m excited and scared shitless at the same time. But as the saying goes, “it takes a village,” and I’m grateful for the resources available to us.
So, to all the other parents out there, or soon-to-be-parents, don’t forget to laugh and take it one day at a time. As the great Maya Angelou once said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Let’s make each other feel good, even when we’re up to our elbows in baby poop.


Woof, Woof!🐾
Bonjour, bonjour, our fellow fur-loving friends! It’s your dynamic duo, Boujee and Dapper, back again to fill you in on our latest escapades. Life at the house has been nothing short of pawsitively delightful!
First things first – toys! Oh là là, last week was quite the treat, especially because it was Boujee’s special day. Our humans, being the adoring parents they are, decided to spoil us even more. They added a couple of brand-new toys to our ever-growing basket of fun. Dapper here, between you and me, can’t seem to stop crying after these toys. Seriously, they’re like the Holy Grail of playtime!
Speaking of excitement, our dear Boujee has been enjoying some well-deserved pampering. She’s been taking leisurely naps all day long – especially when she sneaks upstairs to the loft with her favorite human, Dad, or finds a cozy spot downstairs with the Kat. If there’s one thing Boujee knows how to do well, it’s relaxing in style.
Now, let’s talk about someone who’s quite the master of mischief. That’s right, our very own Dapper! Despite all his cuteness, he’s been caught a couple of times on the couch – a place he’s not technically supposed to be. But you know what they say: “Deny, deny, deny.” Dapper’s got this game down to a science, pretending like he’s just been lounging there all along. Oh, the things we do for a comfy nap spot!
But enough about our indoor antics. This week, we expanded our circle of friends! We made some new pals, mostly local kiddos, who couldn’t resist our charm. They stopped by Pier 8 for some loves and pets – it was a real paw-ty! There’s nothing quite like the feeling of little hands giving us scratches behind the ears. It’s the stuff dreams are made of, really!
As we wrap up this chapter of our furry tale, we want to give a big shoutout to our humans. Life is good, and with their love, treats, and belly rubs, it’s even better. With the colder weather slowly creeping in, we can’t help but giggle our butts in anticipation of more walks and hikes.
